Workouts include a variety of exercises that focus on functional movements that includes strength, balance, mobility, power and cardio with several options for modifications to align with your fitness level. It’s recommended to speak with your healthcare professional to know if an exercise program is right for you.

HELLO AND WELCOME, 
I'M JANINE

I’m the owner and instructor for Wise Moves Fitness. I'm certified as both a personal trainer and functional aging specialist. I started this fitness business to serve a population that is so incredibly significant, but yet under reached. 

 

I've been working with those 50+ since 2017 bringing them quality and purposeful exercise to help them stay strong and active in their older years.     

 

My functional aging specialist training has allowed me to offer the 50+ population a unique and valuable exercise program that will keep them moving confidently in their aging years and help keep their independence longer.

 

  The functional aging model consists of the 6 domains of physical function:

1. Balance

2. Mobility

3.Cognitive/Emotional

4. Neuromuscular

5.Musculoskeletal 

6. Cardio-Respiratory.

...bringing you a purposeful exercise workout in each class.

Age doesn't dictate your ability to move, it's your lifestyle.  Staying strong and mobile as you age takes work and I consider it a privilege to be a part of your efforts to remain strong and capable and help you live your best life possible.

“KEEPS ME FIT AND LIMBER”

I have been a member of  Wise Moves Fitness since its inception.  At 72 years of age, and as someone with arthritis and other degenerative conditions, I credit this class with keeping me fit and limber. 
 
 I very much appreciate the fact that Janine suggests modifications to the exercises  for those of us in the class with limitations such as stiff knees, hip replacements, stiff shoulders, etc.  She makes the class fun and introduces us to new exercises on a regular basis.  I would recommend this class, without hesitation, to anyone over 50 who would like to stay as mobile as possible and have fun doing it.

Janine provides: 

  • Flexibility in scheduling (times and venue, in-person or Zoom at home) 

  • Variety of moves, changes every session – so it never gets boring or feels like counting “reps” 

  • Clear and precise explanations about each move – to be sure the exercise is done correctly 

  • Explanations about the purpose of each exercise - what muscles and movements are being worked on and why 

  • Options for alternative moves that alleviate specific medical issues such as hip, knee, shoulder, etc. 

  • Encouraging narrative and music 

  • Reasonable cost

“Since I have joined Janine’s classes I have noticed a remarkable difference in my strength, mobility and balance.  I am able to get up and down from a ladder to put my Christmas  lights up, can climb a step ladder to clean light fixtures, I can easily go up and down stairs and much more. I do my own yard work and snow shovelling and I

don’t think this would be possible without the classes. Janine offers modifications to exercises for those of us that need modifications and I really like the way that this class focuses on strength, mobility and balance. I want to be able to keep putting those outdoor lights up at Xmas for years to come and these classes are contributing to make this possible. I notice a big difference in my balance as well.

Muscle strength, flexibility and range of motion often take a back seat to aerobics these days.  BUT, as we age they become more important than ever. 
 
Janine’s knowledge, patience and intentional instruction has worked to increase my strength, range of motion and flexibility.  The most obvious results are that I can, once again, bend over to pick things off the ground without pain, and I can put my socks on while standing up.
